The Find - Riderwood

After 7 months of searching, we landed on the Riderwood home by accident. Literally. I was using an online tool from our realtor Marilyn (Keller-Williams Realty) and forgot to put in a basic search criteria, I think it was a basement and garage wanted, and got a new home in my search I hadn't seen before.

Jack and I took a drive by, liked the basic look of the home and asked our Realtor to set up a visit. We toured the home, liked what we saw, and made an offer. The home had barely been listed a day, but with this tight market, that's about how homes were selling. At the time of our purchase, I believe about 12-18 days was the average window for sale in metro Atlanta.

We knew in walking through the house initially that a kitchen and bath renovation was likely. In talking through our plans, we decided we'd like to renovate the kitchen and one of the bathrooms before moving in rather than live through a renovation. Turns out that was a really good decision.

Here are some details on our home: Built in 1960 3 bedroom 2 bath has had two major additions - the carport converted to a garage (and laundry off of the kitchen) and a Great Room added to the back of the home House includes a partial basement, finished The lot size is just under 3/4 acre, one of the largest in the neighborhood

The Riderwood neighborhood is a small mid-century development near the larger neighborhood area known as Oak Grove in Dekalb County, Georgia. here's the outside of the home.

Inside pictures coming in the next post.
